The Truth About Carbs and Quick Weight Loss Diets

featured-cutgut

Lots of people talk about low carb and no-carb for quick weight loss diets, but are these healthy ways to trim pounds?

There are quite a few misconceptions about carbohydrates and their function in our bodies. Any diets that severely or completely cut out carbs could damage your health. Here’s why:

Carbs are the basis of our energy and without them it’ll be hard to get through all of your daily activities (forget about high-intensity workouts if you aren’t eating any carbs!). Carbs are equally important for our brains’ functions.

When your body breaks down carbs, it turns them into energy in the form of glucose. Glucose is a type of natural sugar that is absolutely essential for a healthy and fit body. Once your body makes glucose, it stores the sugar in your muscles and liver for later use.

What happens if you don’t use the glucose? It changes into FAT.

So while carbs are essential for our daily functions, too much of them can cause us to gain weight. The goal of  quick weight loss diets isn’t to cut out all of the carbs, it’s to only eat the right portions for your lifestyle!

There’s a bit more to this carb story though: there are also good carbs and bad carbs. We all know that foods like bread and pasta are heavy on carbs, but did you know you can get much better quality carbs from eating certain fruits and vegetables? Again, the problem isn’t carbs (they don’t really make you fat!), the problem is eating too many bad carbs like processed foods.

Want to know which carbs are best for slimming down and when to eat them for quick weight loss diets? Check out the video below. It’s part 1 of our free 8-part series on losing weight the healthy way, while still eating the foods that you love!

The Diet Solution Program Review

The Diet Solution Program Review + Our Top Weightloss Products Reviewed

dietsolutionreviewpage The Diet Solution Program Review5stars The Diet Solution Program ReviewOk, I really don’t like giving out a “perfect” review, but “The Diet Solution” is really a stand-out product in the over saturated dieting market. Here me out on this recommendation and I think you’ll agree with it’s 5 star ranking.
The Diet Solution is the brainchild of Isabel De Los Rios. If you’ve been looking around online for dieting advice, then you’ve probably seen her mentioned in quite a few places. Why? She’s a nutritionist and fitness expert. In addition to being an author, she runs her own fitness center and works with private clients who have weight and health issues due to conditions like diabetes, heart disease and high cholesterol. Why does this matter? Because most eBooks on the market are full of rehashed information that anyone can find with a few Google searches. Here you’re getting proven and tested tactics from someone who works with this stuff everyday.

Isabel’s story is great and all, but what about The Diet Solution Program review? Let’s get one thing straight: If you’re expecting some sort of magic book that will make you lose weight instantly, then you should probably not buy this product. However, if you’re willing to make a few lifestyle changes, try some new foods and put in consistent effort, then keep reading.

The Diet Solution program is based on correcting our eating habits. It’s not about what we eat (although that’s important!), but what’s inside what we’re eating. As an example, let’s look at soda. There are some sodas that have natural ingredients and make for nice treats once and a while and won’t make you gain weight. However, the sodas that most of us drink daily are so full of unhealthy ingredients it’s no wonder that everyone is gaining weight.

Now, imagine if someone went through your whole cabinet and showed you exactly which products and ingredients were making you gain weight. And then they told you about similar foods that would make you healthier AND help you lose weight. Now imagine if someone planned out your weekly meals, gave you a shopping list and gave you a few tricks to make the “boring” health foods taste delicious. That’s basically what The Diet Solution is about!

Lots of people are concerned with quick weight loss — and this program does address it! It’s not uncommon for someone to lose 10-15 pounds in 4-6 weeks by just changing their eating habits. This program also keeps the bigger goal in mind: by changing your diet permanently you’ll feel and look better, but you’ll also be healthier. Eating well and avoiding the heavily processed foods outlined by Isabel is key to fighting heart disease, diabetes and other serious conditions.

In a nutshell, it’s a great program that has more information that courses twice as long and twice as expensive. If you’re lazy or afraid of trying new things, then it probably isn’t for you, but I don’t really know any weight loss products for couch potatoes besides life-threatening diet pills…

What is it? The Diet Solution is an eBook. It’s a PDF file that you download to your computer (both PC and Mac) and either read it on-screen or print it out.

Who’s it for? People who are interested in losing weight, but don’t want to starve themselves to death. People who are interested in natural foods and want to learn ways to cut processed foods out of their diets.

How much? $47, about 1/4 (or less) of the price you’d pay to hear the same information from a nutritionist in a personal coaching setting. Money-back guarantee.

Special notes? Comes with a few bonus reports related to dieting and fitness that aren’t listed on the website until you submit your order. Backed by a 60-day guarantee! If you buy it and don’t like it, you get your money back, no questions and no hassles.

Note As with all diets, people taking prescription medication or with existing conditions should consult with a doctor. However, The Diet Solution is based only on a natural and balanced diet and is generally safe for the whole family.

Not really — this eBook DOES have extensive info for people who want to tone their bodies, but it is also full of helpful diet and health information. It’s not quite as extensive on the diet side as Isabel’s work, but quite a useful resource and covers lots of areas that “The Diet Solution” doesn’t. It’s a great companion guide once you start losing weight and want to really tone up your body.

The author, Micheal D. Geary, is a Certified Nutrition Specialist and a Certified Personal Trainer. He wrote this guide to dispel the myths about ab exercises, diets and machines. If you’ve ever paid for a personal trainer, you know that they work you hard and are EXPENSIVE, so getting 149-pages of ab info for $39 is a bargain. But is the info any good?

First of all, don’t buy this book if you’re lazy — just like “The Diet Solution” you won’t lose weight or tone your abs without doing some work. However, if you’re sick of your current workout routine and not getting great results, then this book will change the way you view your work outs.

Michael promises the truth and that’s what he gives you! The book starts with a pretty long section about the science and biology behind fit bodies — it’s interesting information and a bit more in depth than most other fitness courses. If you’re not interested in learning the How’s and Why’s, you could skip this part and still get a lot out of the course.

The real meat of “The Truth about Abs” is in the diet and workout sections. For dieting, Micheal focuses on healthy eating that will help you get the most out of your workouts. Some of the same information is covered in our free video course, but here Michael reveals how eating fatty foods can make your body look great. Like “The Diet Solution,” there are a few different meals laid out for you so that you have a starting place for applying the material. There are also a few handy charts to help you make your own meals and portions if you aren’t too interested in Michael’s creations. The only thing missing is the shopping list like in “The Diet Solution.” In short, the diet info in this book is top quality and that’s why I’m including it in our reviews section.

However, the real fun starts when Michael talks about cardio and workout routines for getting great abs. Let’s be clear here: Michael’s eBook does NOT require you to run out and get an expensive gym membership. It could help, but the vast majority of his exercises are focused on free weights. You could go to Walmart and pickup a $5 set of weights and get started today if you wanted. He doesn’t try to sell you some “super-duper-does-it-all” exercise machine which is quite a relief. Learning about his approach to workouts and why he prefers freeweights is eye opening enough to change your workout routines.

And the cardio section! This was the highlight of the eBook for me. Personally, I hate doing boring cardio. Michael breaks down why and how cardio works and then tells you exactly how to get all of the benefits with less than half the time. You’ll work just as hard, but if you hate running for 45 minutes to an hour (like me), then you’ll love this part. It’s even better when you do it for a few weeks and see that Michael’s approach really works.

In the closing sections, Michael brings all the information together. There’s TONS of great stuff in this eBook and the ending ties it all together so you can remember and apply it. Plus, he goes through an FAQ section that really tears into workout myths. Ever wondered if it’s really worth it to do cardio before you eat? Or if genetics really play a role in having great abs? His answers are almost worth the $40.

I can only give one product a perfect rating, which is why “The Truth About Abs” only gets 4.5 stars, but if you’ve already lost some weight and want to tone your body, this is the course for you.

What is it? The Truth About Abs is a 149-page eBook. It’s a PDF file that you download to your computer (both PC and Mac) and either read it on-screen or print it out.

Who’s it for? Folks who are fairly happy with their weight and want to tone their bodies. If you’re looking to lose around 20-15 pounds with the ultimate goal of having a great beach body, then this is the course for you. too. BUT if you can’t commit to an exercise routine, then don’t buy this product.

How Much? $39.95 gets you an immediate download to your computer. There is also a trial version for $1 (may not be available all the time, but it was up when this review was written).

Special Notes: A bonus report is available on the website, check it out for a free taste of Michael’s course. He kindly gave us a copy to distribute through our mailing list, so if you sign up here we’ll send you a copy at the end of our mini-course.

Note As with all diets and exercise routines, people taking prescription medication or with existing conditions should consult with a doctor. The information in this review is provided to help you make an educated purpose and is not meant to substitute for professional medical and health advice.

Diet Support – Long Term Advice for Healthy Living

featured-nofries

If you’re at all like most dieters, then chances are you’ve tried a few diets. Maybe things start out great: you’re full of enthusiasm and totally gung-ho about it for the first couple of weeks. Then you begin to slow down — you lose steam and eventually stop the diet altogether. Why does this happen to so many people and what can you change to make your next diet a success?

The core issue is that we perceive weight loss as being the ultimate goal of a diet. While it’s a noble pursuit to want to trim the fat, there is a greater goal that most people don’t think about when starting a diet: your long term health!

When you’re healthy everything is easier. Think about this: when you feel bad, everything you do is bad, whether it’s studying, working or playing. The opposite is true when you’re healthy. So when you start your next diet, make sure you do it with long term health benefits in mind. Not only will you feel better, but you’ll help prevent scores of serious health issues later in life.

Here’s a few tips to make it easier to get healthy AND lose weight with your next diet:

1. Make Time for Your Health

We all have busy lives and constantly scurry from one place to the next, but try to set up a schedule that gives you some time to REALLY devote to your health. It doesn’t need to be a long time: an extra 15 minutes to cook dinner instead of grabbing fast food or an additional 20 minutes in the morning to do through your work out routine. The payoffs will be worth it in the long run when you have more money and energy thanks to being healthy!

2. Analyze What You’re Eating

Learn some basic nutrition (our free course is a great place to start ;) ) and take a good look at what you’re putting into your body. Once you learn what’s REALLY in that candy bar your attitude towards eating will change. If you can’t pronounce it, then you shouldn’t be eating it! It’s not uncommon for people to start to be disgusted by fast food and unhealthy foods once they stay on a diet for 4 to 6 months, but you need to pay attention to what you’re eating first.

3. Drink Water

One of the biggest problems with diets is that people don’t look at what they’re drinking. All that caffeine and soda is terrible for you and actually working against your diet plan. Artificial sweeteners in soda will make you hungrier and caffeine will just dehydrate you. When your water intake is low, it can cause scores of health problems. Really, if you aren’t drinking at least half your body weight in ounces in water each day, then you aren’t getting enough (so if you weigh 150 pounds, you should have 75 ounces of water each day–like 8 glasses).

Keep these three things in mind when you start your next diet. Remember: you’re making a long term commitment to your health and will reap huge benefits in addition to weight loss if you stick with it.

The Best Diet is No Diet!

featured-manwoman

What? What do you mean the best diet is no diet?

The truth is: no diets work, so you shouldn’t bother following one. Huh?

Yes, that’s right: think of it another way. Do not make the mistake of following a diet when you could be eating delicious foods that satisfy your hunger and keep your body healthy. Eating right will do more for you than any diet could ever dream of!

The best diet is one that you can stick to for more than one week and the only way to make that happen is to find foods you like that are healthy. The “best diet” is unique to each person, but there are a few things you should keep in mind while developing your own approach.

1. Only Eat Foods that You Like

How many times have you started a diet and then quit because the food was terrible? Probably quite a few if you’re like most people. Healthy food doesn’t need to be on par with birdseed and acorns. If you do it right, you can turn a pizza into a fairly healthy meal. How does scrambled eggs (with real butter of course) topped with vegetables and two slices of toast sound? Is your current diet that delicious? The key is to use fresh, natural ingredients that are good for your body. You don’t need to eat stale foods to get healthy and lose weight. There are thousands of delicious meals out there that will improve your health and shave off your extra pounds.

2. Never Go Hungry

Some diets only give you teeny-tiny portions that leave your stomach aching and growling all day long. These are no good! You should never go hungry because it won’t help you lose weight and certainly isn’t good for your health. Your body needs a certain level of nourishment during the day in order to burn fat and function properly.  In addition to eating breakfast, lunch and dinner, you should be having at least one snack per day. Any diet that says otherwise is not worth trying. Again, the key here is to eat the right things.

3. Don’t Go Cold Turkey

Not everyone has the willpower to jump right into a diet plan. In fact, statistics show that the majority of diets fail because they are too harsh. Gradually build your diet up by adding one healthy thing each week and eliminating one “junk” food at the same time. For example, cut soda this week and increase your water intake to 8 glasses per day. That’s simple and ANYONE can do it! After 2 – 3 months, your entire diet will be transformed and the pounds will be failing off. Best of all, this approach will last and last and last….

If you’re looking for the best diet, then I’m sorry to say it doesn’t exist, but these 3 keys will help you find a solution that works for you. Go ahead: have french toast for breakfast, a salad for lunch and a juicy steak for dinner: with the right core ingredients almost any delicious food will help you lose weight.

Simple Exercise Plans for Your Diet

featured-youngold

If you want to see quick weight loss, then you need a simple exercise plan to go along with your diet.

Now, contrary to popular belief, you DO NOT need to spend hundreds (or thousands) of dollars on a gym membership and a personal trainer. You can if you want, but you can get great results by just doing a few simple things at home.

Also contrary to popular myths, your exercise routine doesn’t need to take up hours and hours of your time. Nope! You can get excellent weight loss by just spending a few minutes a day on the right exercises.

Here’s what you need:

1. Some Basic Equipment

Forget about all-in-one exercise machines — all you need is a set of free weights and maybe an exercise bike if you live in an area with cold winters. Free weights can be had at WalMart or a similar store for like $5, so what’s your excuse? For a cheap exercise bike, check out places like your local YMCA and see if they’re trying to unload some older equipment.

2. Make it Fun

If you don’t enjoy your workout routine, then you’ll never stick to it. Blast your music, find and exercise video that you love and keep using it to get pumped. Sick of working out alone? Find people in your neighborhood to run with or join an adult sports league. It’s usually not your workout routine that bores you, it’s the environment you’re in, so change it up every few weeks to keep your interest level high.

3. Cardio Doesn’t Need to Last for Hours

The most important thing I learned about cardio was that high-intensity training gets greater benefits in less time. So if you hate cardio (like me), then try this: sprint for 3 minutes, jog for 2, sprint for 3, jog for 2. Repeat until you’ve got a 20 minute routine and use it instead of “power walking” for hours on end. It’s a harder workout, but you’ll get greater results with less of a time commitment. Think of it as spinning for joggers.

Try these 3 tricks to speed up your weight loss diet. Remember, just like your diet, your exercise routine must be something that you enjoy, otherwise you’ll never stick to it.
